Una gita a Tarquinia

Tarquinia, città degli etruschi, conosciuta per la sua necropoli...
Il martedì in cui siamo andati a visitarla non prometteva nulla di buono: era una giornata decisamente fredda e le nuvole minacciavano pioggia...
Dopo aver pagato il parcheggio, entriamo nel centro prendendo corso Vittorio Emanuele, passando per Piazza Mazzini. Incrociamo subito Palazzo Vitelleschi, sede del Museo Etrusco (biglietto solo per il museo: 6 euro, 3 per chi può usufruire del prezzo ridotto. Costa 8 euro se prendete quello cumulativo museo+necropoli, che costa 4 per chi rientra nelle categorie del ridotto).
Quindi abbiamo proseguito oltre e ci siamo imbattuti in quella che possiamo definire la piazza principale di Tarquinia, dove troviamo la Chiesa del Suffragio e il Palazzo del Comune di Tarquinia. Quindi imbocchiamo l'alberata Dante Alighieri fino ad arrivare ad un piccolo belvedere che si apre sulla vallata e su quella che definirei dell'archeologia industriale.
Torniamo indietro e seguiamo le indicazioni in giro per la città: la cosa bella di Tarquinia è che le indicazioni per i vari monumenti sono ad ogni angolo e se avete uno smartphone potete avere informazioni maggiori grazie ai "QRcode".
La prima cosa che si nota è la quantità elevata di torri che ci sono in giro per Tarquinia, stile San Gimignano insomma: comunque ci si giri, si trova una torre! Concludiamo il giro, ovviamente, davanti al duomo della città.
Oltre al fatto delle torri, abbiamo notato anche che molte delle chiese erano chiuse.
Si tratta di una cittadina piccola e un giro così lo si può fare in un paio d'ore. Ovviamente a passo tranquillo.

After paying the parking, we enter in the city center by Corso Vittorio Emanuele, passing through Piazza Mazzini. We stopped immediately in front of Palazzo Vitelleschi, "house" of the Etruscan Museum of Tarquinia (the ticket only for the museum costs € 6, 3€ for those who can take advantage of the reduced price. If you take the cumulative tiket, for the museum and the necropolis,it costs 8€, and 4 € the reduced one) .
So we went over and we came across what we might call the main square of Tarquinia, where we find the Chiesa del Suffragio and the Town Hall of Tarquinia. So we take the street called "alberata Dante Alighieri" and we arrived to a small belvedere, that shows to the tourists the valley around Tarquinia and what I would call "industrial archeology".
We decided to finish the tour and we started to follow the signs around the city: the nice thing about Tarquinia is that the indications for the various monuments are on every corner and if you have a smartphone you can learn more thanks to the "QRcode."
The first thing you notice is the large amount of towers that are around Tarquinia, like in San Gimignano (but not the same, of course!): however you turn, there is a tower! We conclude the tour, of course, in front of the cathedral of the city.
Besides the fact of the towers, we also noticed that many of the churches were closed.

It is a small town and a ride like mine you can do it in a couple of hours. Obviously is a leisurely pace.
