Il paesino è molto piccolo e ha degli affacci sulla vallata che lasciano senza fiato (quando ci sono andata io la valle era coperta dalla nebbia e questi immensi nuvoloni bianchi lasciavano senza fiato. Vedrete comunque tutto dalle foto).
Non ci sono grandi chiese e musei, ma si trovano tanti piccoli scorci da ammirare, una chiesa nella piazza principale, il monumento ai caduti, ciò che resta di quelle che sembrano porte d'ingresso delle mura di cinta e, in fondo al paese, quel poco che resta della torre medicea. Anche a Santo Stefano si è sentito il terremoto, ma questa torre è l'unico edificio crollato (ed è crollata interamente!), gli altri sono tutti ancora in piedi (molti sono stati, ovviamente, puntellati e rinforzati. In alcuni punti si vedono cumuli di pietre forse cadute da qualche parte).
La cosa che più colpisce è che le strade erano praticamente vuote. Non parlo solo dell'assenza dei turisti, ma anche dei locali: per le strade avremo incontrato in tutto 10 persone e dalla maggior parte delle case non usciva un rumore (e dalle altre usciva solo l'odore della legna bruciata). Che sia un calo dovuto al terremoto ed alla paura che si è lasciato dietro?

There aren't great churches and museums, but there are many small glimpses to admire, a church in the main square, the monument to the war dead, all that remains of what looks like the gates of the city walls and the bottom of the country, what remains of the Medici tower. Even in Santo Stefano the inhabitants have felt the earthquake of 2009, but this tower is the only building collapsed (and it collapsed entirely!), The others are all still standing (many are, of course, underpinned and reinforced. In some places you can see piles of stones falls from somewhere).
The most striking thing is that the roads were practically empty. I speak not only of the absence of tourists, but also local: during our walk we saw maximum 10 people and from most of the houses we didn't hear any noise (and the other came the smell of wood smoke). I think that, maybe, is a consequence of the earthquake and of the fear that it has left behind himself.
