il palazzo dei Priori: a sud della piazza, oggi è sede della pretura. La torre è stata abbassata (eliminando la merlatura guelfa) per problemi di statica;
la cattedrale si trova esattamente di fronte al palazzo dei priori. L'edificio è stato costruito sui resti di una chiesa preesistente tra il XII e il XIV secolo. Ha tre navate con una quarta aggiunta nel '300;

This is the short story of my short trip to Todi. A fast path to see some of the most important points of the city's history.

Arriving in front of "Porta Amerina ", which belongs to the outer walls of Todi,we left the car in the parking. Passed this port of the first walls (or last, if you talk about the chronological order in which the three city walls were constructed), we start to climb some stairs and we arrive to the " porta Marzia , of a more ancient city walls (the second in chronological order). From there we took Corso Cavour until we arrived in front of the Fonte Cesia, built to collect water coming down from the fortress of the city.

Before we go on with the story of the trip, I would write a little legend about why the eagle is the symbol of Todi: Todi was built on a mountain (hill or whatever you want call it), which, according to legend, was indicated to the founders of the city (Veii the Umbrian if I remember correctly) by an eagle that today is, in fact , the symbol of the city.

Continuing along Corso Cavour, we arrive at Piazza Garibaldi with the statue Garibaldi, the "hero of the two worlds". From there, there is a fantastic view : why not sit a few minutes to observe it? immediately beside that square, there is Piazza del Popolo where there are all the most important buildings :
the Palazzo dei Priori : to the south of the square, is now the seat of the court. The tower was lowered (by eliminating the battlement) for static problems; the cathedral is located exactly in front of the palace of the priors . The building was built on the ruins of an earlier church from the twelfth to the fourteenth century. It has three naves with a fourth added in '300 ;
Palazzo del Capitano and People's Palace are located on the right side of the square (looking towards entering the cathedral ) : In order not to confuse them with each other , the first once finished was called " new building of the town ." The external staircase is in common to the two buildings .

We went to visit the Cathedral and then we headed towards the monument to Jacopone, which is exactly at the bottom of the stairs leading to the temple of San Fortunato (where the tomb of Jacopone is). Arrived to the top of the staircase, we couldn't miss a walk in the garden of the fortress.
